Can Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera be Set Up to Monitor a Trailer While Towing with Alerts Off
Question:
Can you turn on the camera while underway to monitor your hitch\trailer? If so can you turn off the backups sensors to eliminate the zone flashing and beeping?

I actually own the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 and the way it is set up it is hardwired to the reverse light circuit (this is permissible if the vehicle does not have a 7-Way to tee into). In order to turn it on when you want to you would have to hardwire it into the running light circuit or to a switch connected to the vehicle battery.
Wiring it into the running light circuit would be easiest.
The volume of alarms can be adjusted or muted with the button on side of the monitor so the sound will not be present if you do not want it to be. The sensors cannot be turned off, just the sound.
