Can Body of Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ Low-Profile Latch Be Drilled Into for Installation

Question:

I have a Rove lite travel trailer 1800 lb dry, 2500 Gross with an aluminum frame. The current 2 in ball coupler is bolted on with 4 large bolts vertically through the top of the coupler and the frame and a 3/8 in alum plate welded to the bottom of the a-frame. I would like to switch to a bulldog coupler as I have had issues with the stock one. My question is therefore, would it be OK to drill the holes through the top of this coupler using the current one as a template and bolt it on? I think that such a setup would be at least as strong as the stock one and the bulldog would be a much safer and less troublesome hitch - I had one put on an R-pod I owned after the old one came unhitched while driving! and it was great.

Yes, you can drill holes into the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ Low-Profile Latch # BD028288 to install it using the existing mounting hole configuration on your trailer.
