Yakima RocketBox Pro 12 Cargo Box Will Not Fit a Crossbar Spread Over 32 Inches

Question:

I purchased a Rocketbox Pro 12 and the crossbars on our camper are 36inch apart 2010 coleman popup - the claws on the rocket box - when spread to their maximum distance dont quite reach. Can I use this mounting hardware instead - the tracks in the base of the box are plenty long - I just need to be able to mount it to the bars differently - will this work, and be safe? Or do you have another recommendation? Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:

As you already know the compatible crossbar spread for the Yakima RocketBox Pro 12 is 24 to 32 inches. There is no other mounting feet or hardware that will fit the box without making major modifications to the box, mounting hardware, or both. This is not recommended because it can compromise the structural integrity of the box and will void the warranty.

The easiest solution is going to be to either move the crossbars closer together on the camper or add a third bar in between the regular bars. You can get a set using # SR1020. The bars can be adjusted to 80 inches, 83 inches, or 86 inches long and they fit a maximum trailer width of 85-1/2 inches.
