Can I Use A 10mm Bolt Instead Of The 3/8 Bolt With The CargoBuckle Ratchet Straps IMF18800

Question:

Hi, I am looking at using this ratchet strap to secure large dog crates to my van floor. The van is a 2018 Ford Transit, and Im attaching D-rings to the floor to accommodate 4 tie-down straps per crate. The manufacturer of the crate has supplied ratchet straps with the crates that have 4,000 lbs breakaway strength which may be a little high. The only problem is, their ratchet straps are too long to mount to the D-rings on my vans floor. I am looking at a solution like these retractable tie downs, as the distance from the crate bolt hole to the D-ring on the floor is about 8. I would be placing the housing up on the crate, with a bolt running through the strap housing into the crate, and the hook going through the D-ring on the floor. TLDR - I see these retractable straps come with a 3/8 bolt and hardware. The crate bolt hole I want to attach these straps to is for a 10mm bolt, will that fit through the eye hole on the brackets for these straps?

Yes, I believe a 10mm bolt will work just fine with the CargoBuckle Ratchet Straps # IMF18800. The bolt provided with the straps is a 3/8" bolt so like 9.5mm. The plastics housing on the back gives a bit of extra space for the bolt so it will fit thru fine. The metal on the front may be a bit tighter of a fit for a 10mm bolt. I feel like a half of a millimeter will not be a big deal, but you could probobly enlarge the hole ever so slightly without too much trouble if you need to.
