Can Lithium Batteries be Connected to 12 Volt Charge Wire of Vehicle Alternator

Question:

I installed 2-200amh lithium batteries in my rv. I was told I would need to disconnect the black wire from the 7-pin plug to protect the batteries from the tow vehicles alternator. Is this correct? I have a converter charger I purchased from E-trailer PD9160alv, 75-15 charge controller, with a 2000w inverter. Thank you.

Lithium batteries do need a higher voltage when charging than what a vehicle alternator can put out which is why you wouldn't want them connected to a power wire from the vehicle alternator.
