Will the Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter Damage Electronics

Question:

Hello - I have a 600 amp lithium battery bank, with 1060 watts of solar panels two solar controllers and two Magnum inverters. I am considering a purchase of the above item for use when storing my motorhome. I noticed the sparking when first connecting this converter to a battery bank. Do I need to worry about a damaging to electronics/electrical parts power surge when I connect the converter to my battery bank?

Helpful Expert Reply:

No, the Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter and Battery Charger - Lithium # PD9160ALV has built in safety features to protect your RV's electrical system. Such as a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. It has short circuit protection as well, which limits the current and reduces the output until the short has been fixed. Additionally, the converter will shut down if there is excessive voltage. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit and only operates during high loads. If you experience a power surge that damages electronics, it won't be from this converter.
