Will ST205/75-15 Trailer Tire Fit a 15"x7" Wheel

Question:

1987 SHOOPS brand 2 horse trailer that has old large ford bolt pattern. 15”, 5 lug on 5.5 bolt pattern. Question: will a rim of 15”x5 width , 15”x6 width, and 15”x7 fit this horse trailer? Will it make much difference? Old tire size on trailer was ST205/75/15. Will this tire size fit all three widths? I have a chance to buy used steel rims no rust/vents and stored inside that are 15”x7, 5 lug on 5.5 bolt pattern for $40…what tire size is best for this trailer and rim? Very tight budget so used rims but buying new tires.

The only time that sort of width will make a difference is if your tires/wheels are already REALLY close to making contact with your trailer frame. If there are a few inches of clearance then you'll be just fine!

For your application I recommend checking out the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10245, but you'll want to verify the width of your wheel prior to purchasing because this tire can only fit up to 15" x 6-1/2" rims.

The reason I mentioned needing to check the width is because it isn't uncommon for people to measure the entire width of the wheel instead of just bead seat to bead seat. The bead seat to bead seat width is the actual width of the wheel and is typically about 1/2" smaller than the overall width.

If your wheels are truly 15"x7" then we unfortunately don't have a solution for you.
