Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country with 4.0 Liter Motor
Question:
I have a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country touring with 4.0 motor. I want to add a transmission cooler because I think Im getting some heat related issues. I like what Im reading so far on the D135023. I do not want to cut my transmission line. What would you recommend for me.

The first thing I would do, if you think something might be wrong with the transmission, is have it looked over by a qualified mechanic or technician at a dealer. Automatic transmissions are complicated and expensive to replace so catching something early is definitely better than replacing a transmission later.
A transmission has lines that run from it to the radiator and from the radiator back to the transmission. There is a cooler inside the radiator. The factory coolers are adequate at best. Adding a supplemental cooler will definitely help keep the fluid in the prime operating range of 160 to 200 degrees F.
The supplemental cooler will install on the return line that goes back to the transmission. This means that you will have to cut a line in order to install the cooler in line with the existing transmission fluid return line. I have included a link to a video showing an installation on a similar vehicle.
For a cooler the most popular option is # D13503. The most efficient place for a cooler is right behind the grille and in front of the AC condenser core. I have included a link to our help article on transmission coolers as well.
