Can I Wire a 7-Way Upgrade Kit to a 12volt Power Connector Instead Of The Battery?
Question:
I have a trailer equipped with an ‘Autowbrake’ installed and my car is wired with a 4 pin plug. When installing a 7 pin adapter, is it possible to wire the power to a 12V plug in the back of the vehicle or should it only be wired direct to the battery?

You will want to use the 7-Way Upgrade # ETBC7L on your car to upgrade it to work with the Autobrake Controller # 3430001. You will need to wire this to the battery and not the 12volt plug on the back of your car. The wiring on your vehicle is not wired correctly for the power demands the Autobrake and charge line of the trailer will pull. This 7-way kit includes the wiring needed for a charge line as well as a circuit breaker to protect the circuit.
