How to Install a Standard Brake Controller on a 2020 Land Rover Discovery

Question:

I have a 2020 Land Rover Discovery. It has the factory tow package. I am looking for a traditionally brake controller. Your website only displays the Bluetooth options, which I dont want. I tow a boat with 2 axle electric brakes and want a traditional brake controller that i connect into the vehicle with a pigtail. Do you have that option?

I can definitely help you get a brake controller installed on your 2020 Land Rover Discovery, but it might be a little more difficult simply because none of our brake controller manufacturers have a pigtail fitment confirmed for under the dash, and I wasn't able to find an online copy of the owner's manual to see if one even exists - this is why we have tee-in fitments listed like the Curt Echo In-Line # C79DR.

If you can confirm that you have a pigtail underneath the dash on your driver's side then you can install a traditional controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 just fine. You just need to connect the pigtail wiring to the following functions:

Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)

If you can't find any of that wiring then you can use the Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000 and Universal Wiring Kit # 5506 to obtain all of the functions listed above. I'm attaching a wiring diagram for our Wiring Kit # ETBC7 that shows where the wiring from the pigtail on the brake controller are supposed to connect if you do end up going that route.
