Parts Needed to Convert a 4-way to a 7-way on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe to Charge Trailer Battery

Question:

I have a 2009 Santa Fee with tow package. It has a 4 pin connector. I have a 1997 Starcraft pop up that I just added a 29 Deep Cycle battery to. The camper has a 7 pin connector and there is an adapter for the 4 pin to 7 pin. I want to be able to charge the battery on the camper while I drive, how do I wire this to work. Also I noticed tht the battery box has two red wires and one white wire. Both red wires have inline fuses, Whisch wire is for what and where do they connect.

One of the red wires on your trailer battery is probably a charge line and the other is the power source that would get run to the accessories of your trailer. The white wire should be the ground.

One of the red wires should be run to the 7-way on your trailer, that will be the charge wire for the battery. To convert your 4-way to a 7-way you will want the 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. This comes with everything you need to convert your 4-way to a fully functional 7-way. I attached an installation video and instructions for this product to show you how it installs.

The 12 volt circuit of the 7-way will provide a maintenance charge to your battery.

I attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring for you to check out also.
