Trailer Tow Package Running Light Fuse on 2010 Nissan Titan Keeps Blowing

Question:

Just bought a new travel trailer and the marker lights do not work. Everything else works great. Replaced the blown 10 amp fuse under the hood and the marker lights worked for 15 seconds then went off again. Checked the fuse and it is blown again. If I had a direct short the lights would not stay lit for that long. The fuse should immediatly blow. I think I have an over current condition. Possible to many marker lights on the trailer. Assuming there are no corroded connections between the truck and trailer and no shorts what measure can I take that will make the marker lights operational besides trying a 15 amp fuse?

You could also have a slow blow fuse but either way the issue needs to be resolved or the fuse will keep blowing. There are a couple of things that you can do. First, if there are too many lights creating an overload condition then you could remove some of them (unless required by law).

The other way to avoid this issue is to replace the lights with LEDs. LED lights draw a fraction of the power of incandescents so the overload condition would cease when using LEDs.

I would not rule out a short as a possibility because I have seen it happen just like this before. You will just want to make sure the vehicle and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. And inspect the wiring to the lights and make sure there are no frayed wires touching the metal trailer frame.
