Does Trailer Wiring Power Wire for 2014 Nissan Leaf Have to Run to Vehicle Battery
Question:
I have a 2014 Nissan Leaf and am considering buying your wiring harness to run trailer lights. There are a few 12V connections inside the car, one being the cigarette lighter. Could I run the positive line to one of these connections instead of through the firewall, or as you suggest, UNDER the car up to the battery? Thanks for your help,

I know it's tempting not to run the power wire of trailer wiring up to the vehicle battery like with the Curt kit part # C56227 that fits your 2014 Nissan Leaf but this annoying step actually serves a purpose. Allowing the trailer wiring to draw all of it's power from the vehicle battery prevents any trailer wiring shorts from making it to the vehicle wiring and damaging it. If you ran the wire to a different circuit it would potentially damage the vehicle wiring.
