Will Air Bags Allow 2004 Ford F-53 Motorhome to Raise 4 Inches

Question:

I am inquiring about Firestone Ride-Rite or AirLift air suspension kits for a 2004 Motorhome with Ford F53 chassis. My driveway is steep and when I back in the rear of the motorhome drags. Would I be able to inflate the air bags and raise the back of the motorhome say, 4 inches at the axle? It would only be inflated this way for a few minutes then I would let it back down to normal ride height. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Nope, air springs like the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57410 won't raise your 2004 Ford F-53 four inches; if the back end of your motorhome was sagging, or if you wanted your rig to handle better with less body roll then these are perfect. But air bags don't lift your vehicle above normal ride height.

The best I can offer are skid wheels (if you don't have them) which you can put on the rear of your motorhome to help stop the back end from dragging. There are two options for this - if your motorhome is up to 30 feet long use the Ultra-Fab Skid Wheels # UF48-979011; if it is longer than that use the Ultra-Fab Skid Wheels # UF48-979013.
