What Roadmaster D-Ring Adapter Should Be Used With A 0.8" Thick D-Ring
Question:
I have your Sterling All-Terrain towbar for my 2012 Jeep Wranger Unilimted. I now have a Smittybuilt front bumper with D ring mounts. The mounts are .8 thick with a 1 pin hole. Do I need the Roadmaster RM-035 or the Roadmaster RM-035-1?

Before you purchase any adapters you will need to first verify with Smittybilt that your specific bumper is rated to be towed from the D-Rings. They make quite a few bumpers and only a few are actually rated for flat towing. If you're measuring .8" then the # RM-035 would not be able to slip over the D-Ring and you would have to go with the 1" # RM-035-1.
That being said, you'd have a bit of play which could potentially lead to friction and breakdown of the adapter. This is very much in a gray zone so I would also verify with Roadmaster how they feel about the size difference since I've had only one person with this issue in the past and I'm sure they deal with it on a regular basis. Start by contacting Smittybilt for the bumper and then I'd give Roadmaster a call and see what their tech Benny thinks about that large of a variance between the adapter and D-Ring thickness.
