How To Fix Paint Chips and Dings on Trailer Hitch

So I got a trailer hitch and ball mount the ball mount is fine the hitch has dinges and paint chipped with rust showing what should I do to prevent anymore rusting its all hidden so no one will see it but I also will never see if it rust underneath because its hidden

It's not uncommon for trailer hitches to become scratched or dinged up over time causing the powder coat to be removed and the metal to show through. It's really not an issue unless left unattended for a long period of time and exposed to moisture, in which case rust can occur. The rust can lead to degradation over time. So, if you ever see bare metal on the trailer hitch, simply take a paint marker or can of spray paint to cover the bare metal which will help prevent any issues with rust down the line.
