The Curt Cargo Carrier # 18145 that you referenced is a great carrier and will work with your 2 inch Curt hitch on your 2014 Subaru Forester.

My recommendation would be to use the Pro-Series 20 by 60 cargo carrier # 63153 on your Forester. This carrier is compatible with 2 inch hitches and has a rise in the shank that provides additional 2-1/2 inches of ground clearance, and shifts the carrier and cargo a little further away from the exhaust on your vehicle, when compared to the Curt cargo carrier that you referenced.

I also like the mounting positions on this carrier that allow for an additional light kit like the Led Light Kit # 98174LED. If the cargo in you carrier blocks the visibility of your existing lights, you may want a light kit.

A pin and clip is not included with the Pro-series carrier so you might want to use a locking hitch pin like the # e98880

This carrier is little heavier than the Curt Cargo Carrier that you referenced. The Curt Carrier weighs in at 29 pounds and the Pro-Series Carrier is 59 pounds, and it rated for up to 500 pounds. Please check the tongue weight capacity of your hitch and make sure that you do not exceed the lowest component of the system.

Curt typically requires the use of a stabilizing strap# 18050, for all non-trailing load on hitches that are not rated for weight distribution. Please check your hitch installation instructions to see if this applies to your hitch.

I have included links to the parts referenced above, several demonstration videos, and a customer submitted review photo showing this cargo carrier on slightly older Forester for your reference.
