Is Sway Control Needed with a Weight Distribution System
Question:
If I have a weight distribution setup, do I need a sway control adapter? Also, would I need to put more links, or less links on the chains to put more weight on the steering axle? Thanks

Not all weight distribution systems come with sway control. Sway control is usually a good idea, but if you do not experience much sway when you are towing, then you do not need to add it.
If you want to add sway control, then you may be interested in the Friction Sway Control Kit, # 83660. The head of your weight distribution system must have an additional ball hole to the side of the main hitch ball to accommodate the sway control bar (see photo). I have attached an installation video of this kit for you to check out.
If your hitch head does not have a ball, then you could upgrade your weight distribution system to a system that has integrated sway control like the Reese SC weight distribution systems. I have attached a link to all of our Reese SC systems for you to check out.
To answer your second question, the fewer chain links you have between the frame bracket and the spring bar will apply more weight to the steering axle of your tow vehicles. Every time you move up a chain link, you are applying more tension on the spring bars which takes more weight off of the rear axle of the truck.
