Can You Back Up Trailer with a Pro Series Weight Distribution System # PS49582 and # 83660 Installed
Question:
In our search of hitches, the PS49902 was infell into the search of no backing up. What effect does this have on backing? I know that you should disconnect the sway control when backing. There is nothing on your specs or videos. Thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:
With a weight distribution system if you will be basically just backing straight up without any sharp turning you will be fine. But if you are going to end up in any jack knife like scenarios you will want to disconnect the spring bars so they don't pop out of the head of the assembly.
The main reason the 49902 made up of # PS49582 and # 83660 says not to back up with it is because of the friction sway control that comes with it that would need to be disconnected prior to backing up. When backing up, more tension is put on the friction bar than normal driving situations. Also, the sway control bar or the trailer frame could be damaged if there is too much tension on the bar when backing up.
