Weight Distribution Shank For 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver

Question:

Hello, I have a 2014 Ram 2500 and just bought a small camper, 21 tandem axle with a 4855 lb gwvr. I got a wdh with the camper but it doesnt enough and forces the trailer to tow with the tail dragging. Do I really need the wdh with this small of a camper and my truck? Looking at wdhs I would need one with a 8-9 hitch and Im not seeing them.

It sounds like the shank you have just doesn't give you enough drop; and whether or not you need a weight distribution hitch is honestly up to you. It should help level your trailer (if you have the appropriate drop), but it may not be a system with sway control, if that's what you were referencing by it not doing enough. One is recommended for staying level, and shanks are essentially universal so you can simply replace the shank with one that has the correct drop. You mentioned 8-9 inches, and I assume your 2014 Ram 2500 has a 2-1/2 inch hitch, so you can use the following:

- Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 13" Rise, 9" Drop # EQ94FR

Just measure your current shank's adjustment holes from center to center to ensure they are 1-1/4 inches apart; if they are, you can use the # EQ94FR.
