Replacement Brake Actuator for Global Direct GDC-80

Question:

I have a GDC Global Direct 80 Actuator on my 2001 Cobalt 240 Trailer. The outer housing is welded to the Y front portion of the trailer. There are 3 pins that hold the inner portion to the outer portion though looking at a parts Diagram for the GDC 80 there are 4 pins. If there are 4 pins the lower back one is covered by the trailer frame y piece and would have to be drilled for access. My question is can a replacement unit fit inside the square box of the GDC 80 or will I have to cut it off and re weld a replacement?

You will need to cut that off of your 2001 Cobalt 240 to replace the actuator since there are no replacements that will fit. I recommend welding on a straight tongue so you can use a bolt-on actuator like the Dexter Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator # T4747200. This is made for disc brakes and has the same 8,000 lb rating you currently have.
