Can a Sidewinder Pin Box be Used on a Regular Short Bed 2014 Ram 2500 with Fixed 5th Wheel Hitch

I have a 2014 Ram short bed. Can I use any fifth wheel hitch assembly as long as I use a sidewinder with it?

Yes, you can use a Sidewinder instead of a slider hitch on your 2014 Ram 2500. But you will need to know the manufacturer and model number of the pin box to see if there is a Sidewinder that will fit. This information is usually on a sticker or plate on the pin box.
Then you can use the link to the Sidewinder help article to determine which, if any, will fit.
I have also included a link to a help article on some of the hitches that are NOT compatible with a Sidewinder for you.
When using a Sidewinder, you can use a fixed 5th wheel hitch. You could use a slider hitch but it would have to stay locked in the towing position at all times. Sliding it back and using a Sidewinder would produce too much stress on the system.
