Troubleshooting Mounting The Curt A20 Hitch Head To Curt R20 Slider Base

Question:

I have a Curt 16027 Base Rail kit for my 2023 GMC AT4 with the standard bed and puck system, along with an R20 Roller kit and an A20 hitch. My question is, how do I adjust the height of the head? The only mounting holes in the roller that line up with the head holes are tapped to accept the bolts. The other drilled holes in both pieces are just far enough apart and don’t line up so it appears the height is fixed using this combination of parts. Hopefully there is a simple explanation for this. Thank you,

With the R20 Roller legs # C16550 you'll only be using the outer hole with the threads to attach the Curt A20 Head Unit # C16540. You should have an outer column of holes below the one you have pictured to use for the different height settings. The inner columns would be used with a different set of legs and the other holes in the legs would be used with different heads since they are also used with lower rated options.

If your outer threaded mounting hole on the legs is not matching up with any of the other outer column mounting holes then either the hitch head or leg mounting holes were machined wrong and you would need to reach out to Curt for a replacement.

I can't really tell from the picture, but if there's only one column of mounting holes then you have a different head and we would need to identify it to move forward. If you want to send in some more pictures and measure the distance across the holes from center to center I could verify with Curt if the holes were machined incorrectly.
