Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For Towing a 2023 Scamp 16 Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport, double cab, short bed, V6, manual and will soon be towing our new 2023 16 Scamp travel trailer. Scamp tells me the trailer should be around 2300lbs. Theres an overwhelming amount of WD hitch options out there - any recommendations for this particular setup? Thanks in advance

I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET for your 2023 Scamp 16 travel trailer. The Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitches have been around for a long time and are the ones everyone else tries to compare themselves to. This particular system is rated for 200-600lbs of trailer tongue weight with a maximum trailer weight of 6,000lbs. It includes a 2" hitch ball which you will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install. This receiver has an adjustable shank allowing for 3" of drop up to 7"of rise. According to Scamp you want a top of ball height of 21" for their 16' trailer line. You will have to measure the height to the top of your receiver to determine if you will need a different shank to get the correct height for the coupler.
