I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET with your 2010 Forest River Salem 36BHBS. This particular system is rated for a trailer up to 12,000lbs with a tongue weight of 800-1,200lbs and has a maximum drop of 3". Your Salem will have left the factory with 720lbs of tongue weight and a maximum GVWR of 10,880lbs. Once the dealer filled the propane tanks with 60lbs of propane and installed a 50lb battery on the tongue this will put you at 830lbs before you add any additional camping gear. The Equal-i-zer system is made in the USA and features a lifetime warranty. They have been around for over 75 years and continue to be the standard that all other weight distribution hitches try to compete with.

You will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the included 2-5/16" hitch ball if this is something you intend to install yourself.

We also have the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution # EQ37121ET which does not include a shank if you require more than 3" of drop. You will be able to pair it with one of the shanks from the list below.

1/4" to 4" of Drop # EQ90-02-4200
2-1/4" to 6" of Drop # EQ90-02-4300
5-1/4" to 9" of Drop # EQ90-02-4400
8-1/4" to 12" of Drop # EQ44FR
