Bike Rack With Highest Weight Capacity For Class I Trailer Hitch
Question:
Could you have this hitch adapter welded into a 1-1/4 in hitch, would this also reduce the tongue weight of a class 1 hitch? I have a 2006 Chevy HHR with a class 1 hitch and also have a Hollywood bike rack Sport Rider that is for a 2 inch hitch. I need more clearance. I would be hauling Two Rad Runner Plus bikes, that weigh around 70 pounds each.

The Trailer Hitch Adapter # e93YR cannot be welded onto your hitch, and it would indeed reduce the tongue weight of your Class I hitch by 50 percent, from 200 lbs to 100 lbs. There is unfortunately just no way to use your Sport Rider bike rack with your Class I hitch, and I certainly know it's not what you want to hear but the only thing you may be able to do is use a different bike rack, and the bike rack that fits a Class I hitch with the highest capacity is 65 lbs per bike, the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202.
The # TH903202 has a 65 lb per-bike capacity, so you'd have to remove the batteries of your electric bikes to meet the capacity of this rack. If there were any other solution than having to get a new bike rack, I'd offer it up, but apart from using a 2" hitch on a different vehicle, the EasyFold really is the only option.
