What Baseplate Will Fit A 2011 GMC Acadia Denali

Question:

I’m trying to find out the difference between bx1696 and bx1675. I have a 2011 Acadia Denali but it seems the bx1696 is no longer available and bx1675 is not for the Denali trim. I am not sure why BX1675 wouldn’t work. An you explain? I have a Blue Ox tow bar so I prefer to stay with a Blue Ox base plate if possible

The Blue Ox BX1696 is the discontinued so it's not a viable option for your 2011 GMC Acadia Denali and with the Blue Ox # BX1675 not being compatible with Denali models you're stuck switching to a different branded baseplate. I did speak with Blue Ox about why it doesn't fit and was simply told the front end setup is slightly different on the Denali's and that it just won't line up correctly. Looking at the differences between the baseplates that do fit Denali's it looks to me like it has to do with the crossmember since the ones that do fit do not have one.

If I knew exactly what Blue Ox tow bar you have I could see if there's an adapter available to go between the baseplate and tow bar. If you can tell me the model I can try to find one and save you some money.

If that's not an option then you would need the Roadmaster EZ Crossbar Style Base Plate Kit # 523149-1 for the baseplate and a tow bar like the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e44ZR. This tow bar is compatible with Roadmaster's crossbar style baseplates and comes with some extra features and safety cables included.

If you haven't picked out the rest of your flat towing components then I have the following recommendations:

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit will come with everything needed to properly display the traffic signals from your motorhome through the tail lights on the Acadia.

You will also need to remove the BATT1 and ECM fuse in order to flat tow your Acadia. If you want to make this as easy as flipping a switch then you'll want to install the # RM-76517 for the BATT1 fuse and the # RM76511 for the ECM fuse.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This portable system is easy to use and only has a little bit of setup to get you out on the road.

If you have any other questions please feel free to submit another question and I'd be happy to answer it.
