Wire Color/Function of Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller to Install on 2013 F150 w/ OEM Pigtail
Question:
Thank you for providing this area. I have a Primus IQ trailer electric brake controller. This unit was placed in my 2006 Ford F-150. I recently purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 and want to transfer your controller to my new truck. The truck came with the 4 wire connector to inter connect to the truck. Each of the 4 wires are labeled but although there are 4 wires from your unit I need to know which of the wires black, red, blue and white are for what. Hopefully you can help so that I can make the proper wire to wire connection. Thank you.

It sounds like you are asking about the OEM brake control harness for your 2013 F150. The color and function of the wires exiting the rear of the controller are as follows:
Blue-Output to Trailer Brakes
White-Ground
Red-Stoplight Switch Connection
Black-12-Volt Power Supply
Ford offered two different OEM pigtails over the years, one with a Pink wire for 12-volt power, Red wire for stoplight switch, White is ground and Blue for output to brakes. Some pigtails had a brown wire that is not needed. The other was wired with a Red wire for 12-volt power supply, Light Green for stoplight switch connection, White for ground and Blue for output to brakes. Once again, if there is a brown wire, it is not used.
