How To Determine If Your 2018 Chevy Silverado Has An OEM Prep Package

Question:

I have a 2018 Chevy 2500 and how do I find out if I have or have not a OEM Prep Pkg? Looking to figure out which 5th wheel package I need.

It's very easy to determine if your 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 has the OEM prep package. All you'll need to do is look in the bed and see if you have four underbed mounted pucks for a hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3700 to drop into. I've attached a video where Conner shows the pucks and how to connect this hitch to them.

You should also have an in-bed 7-way connection if you have the prep package.

If you find that you don't then you will have to go with an above-bed base rail kit or with a below-bed gooseneck/turnoverball hitch.

If you're fine with base rails then I recommend the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2506. These rails are designed to work with ISR compatible trailer hitches so you'll have plenty to choose from.

If you'd prefer an below-bed system then I recommend the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1016-5W. This hitch would require you to use a Companion # BWRVK3500-5W, but also gives you the ability to tow gooseneck trailers.

The hitch you choose will also need to be compatible with the length of the bed. If you do not have a 8' bed you'll need to use a sliding hitch like the Patriot # BWRVK3270 if you go with base rails or the Companion # BWRVK3400 if you choose the turnoverball hitch.

For in-bed wiring I recommend the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-Pole # PK11893-11932.

If you have any other questions are want to narrow down the right options for your needs then I'd love to hear your feedback.
