Can the 5th Wheel Hitch for a Ford Super Duty with Pucks be Used on a Chevy Heavy Duty with Pucks
Question:
Just curious whether or not a puck style fifth wheel from a Ford F:350 long box would fit into a puck style for a Chevy Silverado 2500 short box?

The Ford OEM puck system is different than the Chevrolet/GMC OEM puck system therefore, you can't use a 5th wheel hitch from one in the other. The Ford OEM system has pucks which are much closer together than on the Chevrolet/GMC OEM system. The other issue you have is that the 5th wheel hitch for a long bed is likely fixed and the 5th wheel hitch you need for a short bed is likely sliding unless you have a rotating pin box.
However, the head from the 5th wheel hitch for a Ford OEM puck system will be the same as the head from the 5th wheel hitch for a Chevrolet/GMC OEM puck system as long as they are the same brand/model. Therefore, if you already have a system now you should be able to reuse the head with a new base.
For example, if you have the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Ford OEM Legs part # C16530-16017 then all you would need to use this system in a Chevrolet/GMC short bed with the OEM system is the Curt R20 Round Tube Slider part # C16550 and the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitches part # C16023.
