Parts Needed to Add Electric Brakes to a Trailer with Hydraulic Brakes
Question:
I have a trailer that has the hydralic surge brakes. I want to take the hydralic brake assembly off and replace it with a electric brake kit. Its it as easy as unbolting the hydralic and bolting on the electric kit. I realize I have to wire the electric brakes as well. I want to make sure im not missing anything thanks.

To change from hydraulic to electric brakes you will need to swap out both the brakes themselves as well as the rotors for hub/drums. When it comes to the electrical side of things you'll need the wiring as well as a breakaway battery kit which will apply the trailer brakes in an emergency situation.
If you're needing a kit rated for 3,500 lbs then I recommend the following parts:
Self-Adjusting Brake Kit - # AKEBRK-35-SA
Hub and Drum Assembly - # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K (5 on 4-1/2"bolt pattern)
10 Gauge Wire - # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot)
Butt Connectors - # DW05745-10
Breakaway Kit - # 3802346
I've attached a helpful article about adding electric brakes to a trailer for you to check out. If you need a kit rated for a higher capacity just let me know!
