Video Transcript for Tow Ready Pintle Hitch - Pintle Hook - Standard - TR63043 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number TR-63043. This is the tow ready pintle hook with shank. It's going to be rated at 10,000 pounds and it's going to have a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. This is designed to fit a 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. This portion here is going to slide in to our hitch. You're going to push it in until you hear the pin holes align with one another and then you'll need to install a pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock.

Those are going to be sold separately, you can refer to our website. Type in part number PC3 and it's going to refer you to a 5/8th inch pin that comes with a clip. This is designed to use as a pintle hook for trailers with Lunette rings. It's made from a solid steel construction with a powder coat finish on it so it's going to stand up really well against rust and corrosion. Again the pin and clip or the pin and lock are going to be sold separately, just secure it inside the hitch. To go over a few measurements, the overall length is going to give us a measurement from end to end of 14 1/2 inches. The distance that we have from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the shank, that's going to give us a measurement of 2 1/2 inches.

If we take a measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the opening, that's going to give us a measurement of 10 inches. You can see here it is a nice solid piece. It's got the pin here up top, all we got to do is disconnect the pin. It's connected with a chain so it's not going to get lost, it's always going to stay close by. Lift up on the little T-handle and it's going to allow you to pull the ring back or it's going to allow you to pull the top portion back. That way you can get in there and connect the Lunette ring and once you have that connected put that back down and the pin is going to secure everything in place. It's really simple installation all you got to do is take the pintle hook, slide the shank into the receiver tube of the hitch.

You're going to push it in until you hear pin holes align up with one another and then you'll need to install your hitch pin and clip or hitch pin and lock. The one I'm using in our demonstration today is part number PC3 and you can find that right here at etrailer.com. With it installed you'll be set and ready to go. That's going to do it for today's review of part number TR63043. This is the tow ready pintle hook. .

Easy lightweight and simple to use! The only issue I’ve had is the chain has come off the locking pin a couple of times, I think I’m going to get a locking pin to replace this one. I deliver motorhomes professionally and this has helped my pre and post trip times a lot, plus it’s so much easier to remove this and throw it in my vehicle when it’s raining than having to wrestle a whole hitch mounted towbar.

Works great and more than anything else, it makes me feel safe that the trailer cannot come loose from my vehicle.
Lots of stress lessened when towing.
These folks are great to work with and even helped me get one quicker than normal due to some uncontrollable circumstances I found myself in.

This pintle hook is built to last, from the solid shank to the beautiful powder coating I'm sure, from my experience, this addition to my trailer towing accessories will never need to be fixed or replaced... I always get the best possible equipment so I'm assured of no breakdown time, which isn't worth my time. And with all the irons I've got in the fire, would end up costing me 10 fold...Etrailer always has what I want at the best price I can find, and gets it to me faster than anyplace I've ever dealt with. Thanks again Etrailer...

My product just arrived today, I haven't even taken it out of the box yet. The condition of the box is in perfect condition, but as a 63 year old man, it sure was heavy. I looked for thee diminutions on the side of the box, but I couldn't read any of the languages written on the sides of the box . As long as it fits into the 2" hitch receptacle on the back of my truck everything should be alright.

by:

the product is for a friend overseas, so i am assuming it is great as he would not have asked me to order it, as he likes well built parts. the only complaint i had is that i had to carry the box into nyc, so i fabricated a spiffy handle to lug it several blocks....if wieght is any indication of strength of the steel...this product will work great

by:

Pintle hitch is heavy. Shank is solid steel, not box metal. Rated at 10000 lbs. Shipping was very quick. Satisfied customer.

I needed a new pintle to haul my tractor. This one is perfect and heavy duty.

by:

Very satisfied with the pintle hook.
However,
the ball mount (63058), as arrived, did not fit my receiver in the truck. Yes, it is 2x2 inch but the corners are not rounded like they should be. I had to use the file and to file 4 corners of the shank section which slides into my truck hitch receiver. It did not take much time to do it but it would be nice if the Etrailer contacts the manufacturer so that they can make required minor change.

I am very happy with a quick shipment of these items and great packaging of these heavy items. I would highly recommend the Etrailer to anybody who needs good parts for the trailer at a good price and for a very quick deliver.

I have only used this hitch a few times, having recently purchased it. I like to see reviews after a product has seen some use. Pintle hitches are a simple mechanism, this one seems to be beefy and well made. There is a little lip at the top of the hook you can see in the listing photo if you look and already know it's there, If things are tight this is enough to catch on the loop when you are trying to unhook. If you are jacking up an already heavy trailer, this is a 30K lb hook, and can't get free of the truck it can be frustrating.

  • Pintle Hook/Lunette Ring Setup Recommendation for an Off-Road Trailer
To use a pintle coupler setup on your trailer you would need to install something like the part # C48631 on your trailer by first removing the current coupler and having the mounting bracket welded to it. Then for a pintle drawbar you would want something like the part # TR63043.

  • 2-Inch Pintle Hook for Use with M614 Military Surplus Trailer
Military equipment, including trailers, does tend to be built to a pretty high capacity. The 20K Curt 2-Inch Pintle Hook # C48004 is a good example. Pintle hitches are often found in industrial, agricultural and of course military applications so they tend to have pretty substantial capacities. The lighter side of overkill is safety margin, a good thing always, but if 20K seems a bit much for your camping application then you might prefer Tow Ready 10K pintle # TR63043 or Curt # C48005.

  • Recommended Pintle Hitch for a 825l Gator with 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
We have a couple options for you. I recommend the Curt Pintle Hook for 2" Hitches - 10,000 lbs # C48005 or # TR63043 either of which will fit in a 2 inch receiver as you stated. This is rated for well over what a UTV can handle. We also have the Curt Pintle Hook for 2" Hitches - 20,000 lbs # C48004 which is rated for double that capacity.

  • What is Needed to Tow a M105A2 Military Trailer with a 2013 Dodge Durango
To convert your M105A2 military trailer to a 7-blade, I would recommend using the Epicord 7-Way with Junction Box # 277-000141. This makes the conversion simple and you don't have to worry about wiring the connector itself. You'll also need some ring terminals like # 44-5310A and some loom clamps like # A0500. The wires in the junction box are color coded as indicated below. Military wiring is typically not color-coded, so you may need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2992 and a 12V power...
