Recommended Parts For Flat Towing 2017 Chevy Colorado Behind RV

Question:

Thanks for answering my question with the post https://www.etrailer.com/question-668859.html. In my case, the RV is a converted 2004 Bluebird School Bus with air brakes. Are the listed components, the only way to go? I see a few other options however, before purchasing, I want to make. sure that I have right stuff. The tow is a 2017 Chevy Colorado Z71.

I would agree and say that the Roadmaster parts are the way way to go. The Roadmaster Baseplate # RM-523182-5 and the Tow Bar # RM-676. The Roadmaster base plate will give you a cleaner look when installed and the tow bar has LED lighting on the bars that will make it easier to hook up and unhook and night. The High Low Adapter # RM-048-4 will help level out the tow bar with your RV.

For wiring The RoadMaster Nighthawk All Terrain Towing Combo Kit # RM-9284-2 provides you with the electrical wiring for integrating the tail lights on your Colorado as well as the covers, lube, and locks to protect the tow bars. The Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 is a must and the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 will maintain the battery while being flat towed. Even with the battery being disconnected from the main components on your Colorado you will still need it to power the supplemental braking system.

Since your 2004 Bluebird School Bus has air brakes you will need the Air Force One # DM26VR braking system. It will work off the air line on your motorhome so once you connect the air line between your vehicles you're ready to take off.

I linked an installation video on the Roadmaster Baseplate being installed onto a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado. The installation process will be the same for your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Z71. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach back out to me anytime and I would be more than happy to further assist you in your towing endeavors.
