Amp Draw vs Battery Life for the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector
Question:
how long should the 12 volt battery last with the master switch off
asked by: Timothy J
Expert Reply:
The RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR has a current draw of 17 mA at 13.5V so you just need to determine how many amp hours your battery bank can hold compared to the current draw to determine this.
The 17 mA is going to be pretty miniscule especially if this detector is the only thing drawing power from the battery bank. With that being said, if your RV will be sitting for long periods of time then it's never a bad idea to add a small trickle charge solar panel kit like the OptiMate Solar Duo Solar Charging System # MA79JR just to help keep your battery bank topped off.
