Can The Yakima LongArm Bed & Roof Load Extender Be Used With Hitch Extender On a 2020 Toyota Tacoma?

I have a 2020 Tacoma and looking at the Yakima extender part number YO1149-1150, with the extension arm to carry my kayak at car top level. However I also want to be able to fully open the tailgate without having to remove the kayak. I’m looking at the hitch extender part number Y69VR with the Yakima extender to accompany this. Do you know if this will work? Also will it be safe to use the hitch extender with the Yakima? Thank you

I do have a solution for you as Yakima said you should not use a Hitch Extension # Y69VR with the Yakima LongArm Bed and Roof Load Extender # Y01149-1150. You can use the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31075 allowing you to use the LongArm on the front of your 2020 Toyota Tacoma. This will keep the rear receiver clear for towing and allow you to use your tail gate without having to remove the kayak.
If you need any help with selecting a roof rack or prefer to go with a truck rack for the bed, just let me know what cab configuration and bed size you have.
