Best Way to Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer With 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 With Factory Tow Prep Package

I am purchasing a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 8ft bed with this towing prep. I have a fifth wheel trailer. What would I use as a hitch set up that will be easily removed from the truck showing a flat bed. No rails left in the bed I also noted you offer a conversion package to bolt to my trailer that will allow me to use the gooseneck set up. which would you recommend?

In my opinion, the best way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with your 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 with the OEM fifth wheel prep package is to use a fifth wheel hitch that fits the in-bed pucks in your truck bed. You have several hitch options that will work, but my favorite is the B&W Companion 25K Fifth Wheel Hitch, # BWRVK3600. This hitch will drop right into the pucks in the truck bed and once it is removed, you will have full access to your bed.

Another option would be to use the Reese Ram OEM 5th Wheel Rail Adapter, # RP30154. This is an adapter that uses the in-bed pucks and provides attachment points for fifth wheel hitches that use the traditional above-bed base rails like the Reese 20K M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch, # RP30928. This is a good option that will definitely get the job done, but it adds another piece to the towing setup.
I would recommend either of these setups before using a fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck adapter. Adapters such as the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Adapter, # CAB-C5G, will work, but they put additional stress on the trailer frame and some fifth wheel trailer manufacturers say these adapters void the warranty. If you decide to use this type of adapter, I recommend checking with your trailer manufacturer for potential problems. Also, some of them aren't compatible with the factory prep packages.
