Question:

I just purchased a used dual jetski trailer. it is equipped with 18.5x8.5-8 tires 4 on 4 lug / bolt that need to be replaced. My jetskis weight 800lb each, I have a couple questions. 1. What ply / load rating tire should I use. 2. could I move up to a 10" tire.

To answer your question on the exact load rating tires I would need to know the weight of the trailer along with any additional cargo carried with the Jet skis. The Loadstar 215/60-8 K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP26 is the replacement size we have for your 18.5x8.5-8. This tire is a load range C rated for 935lbs per tire. We also have it in a load range D # AM1HP28 at 1,165lbs per tire.

If you wanted to move up to a 10" diameter wheel you will need to ensure you have enough clearance for the larger diameter wheel. The 205/65-10 is 2.5" taller and 0.6" narrower than the 215/60-8. As it is narrower you will only need to verify the vertical clearance. You will want 4.25" of vertical clearance on your current tires. 1.25" for the additional height of your tires and 3" for the flex of the suspension when it compresses. Here is a list of the different load ratings we carry with wheel using a 4 on 4" bolt pattern.

Kenda 205/65-10 Load Range B # AM3H340 (910lbs per tire)
Kenda 205/65-10 Load Range C # AM3H380 (1,100lbs per tire)
Kenda 205/65-10 Load Range D # AM3H420 (1,330lbs per tire)
Kenda 205/65-10 Load Range E # AM3H470 (1,650lbs per tire)
