Difference Between Curt RV Multi Fit Hitches 13703 vs. C13704 Capacity Wise
Question:
Hello. We have a 2014 Keystone Laredo 5th wheel and would like to install a tow hitch, primarily for hauling our e-bikes. I see that the c13704 is rated at 500lb tw vs 350 for the other. The brackets look different between the two, but honestly, the 13703 brackets look heavier with more contact with the frame. Is the steel thicker on the 13704? I am concerned with clearance on my back bumper, both height off of the ground and distance to clear the bumper to the rear. I want to be able to use the bike rack without bottoming out and having room between the bikes and back wall of the camper. Having the extra carrying capacity would be great, but I am not sure if one of these may work better for our trailer and concerns or not. Any advice would be appreciated!

This is a very valid question, but the short answer (I'll explain more later) is that Curt tested the # C13704 and found that it's bracket design can withstand more weight than the # 13703. This is most likely due to the brackets being smaller and more limited in how they can install and using those install methods it can support more weight safely.
If the # 13703 happens to have enough weight capacity for your e-bike and rack though you'd be perfectly fine to use it.
For an e-bike rack that is rated for the rougher ride quality at the rear of fifth wheel trailers we have the Hollywood Racks RV Rider part # HLY64FR which would work great as well.
