Do Holes Need To Be Drilled Into The Adjustable Arms Of The Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Hitch

Do we have to drill holes into the adjustable part so the screws go in ? It doesn’t have holes but it looks like it needs them

Yes, if you plan on bolting the Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver # SC45MR on then you would need to drill holes in the adjustable arms in order to set them to the correct length. There aren't any predrilled so that this one hitch can fit multiple different lengths. You'll also need to drill holes into the trailer frame in order to bolt it in place as well.

To make drilling through the metal easier you'll start with the 17mm drill bit it requires and drill just enough to get a bit of a cone shaped hole started so that you have a centered hole. You can then use smaller drill bits and size up until you widen the holes up to 17mm. You'll also want to spray paint or use a paint marker on any holes to help protect from rust and corrosion.
