Can the Wires be Routed Through the Side of the Opti-Brite LED RV Dome Light Base

Question:

Can this be mounted with the wires coming in from the side? I cant drill a hole and feed the wires in from behind where I want to mount it. I have an old Brenderup hourse trailer that has Hella lights on the interior compartments the ones I am replacing. It looks like they just cut some material from the side of the light to feed the wires in from the side. Is there enough material on the side of these lights that some come be removed with a dremel?

The Opti-Brite LED RV Dome Light part # ILL22CB is a surface mount light therefore designed to be attached directly to the mating surface with the wires run out the back. This requires drilling a hole in the mating surface, center of the light so the wires can pass through. I can't recommend notching the light to pass the wire through the side of the base as this could allow water to get inside and would void the warranty of the light.

Unfortunately, none of our surface mount lights allow the wire to be passed through the side of the base.
