Recommended 7-Way Connector for a 2022 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I am getting the Curt 5639 4 pole wiring kit for my 2022 Tacoma - what do I want to get for the 7 pole that will fit in a Toyota OEM wiring harness connector?

To add a 7-way connector to your 2022 Toyota Tacoma you will want the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter item # 22117. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Tacoma's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights.
This 7-way connector will not work with the Curt item # C56349. They install in the same location.
If you are needing both a 4-way and 7-way connector and do not want to wait on the Tekonsha item # 22117, you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Tacoma with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
For a brake controller I recommend the I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that activates your trailer brakes in proportion to your Tacoma's braking action. If you use the Tekonsha item # 22117 the Prodigy P3 will plug directly into the included brake controller port.
