Trailer Brakes Only Work with Manual Lever and Not Brake Pedal

2009 ford f350sd trailer brakes work with controller lever but not brake pedal controller was replaced and wiring tested still no work

In regards to a proportional electric trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885, you cannot test them with the brake pedal while the vehicle is sitting still. The proportional design works off inertia so if you are sitting in your driveway at home stepping on the pedal, there won't be any output to the trailer brakes. This is a common mistake we see when testing trailer brake controllers and does not in and of itself point to an issue. If you have someone listen to the brakes on the trailer while you press the pedal in the vehicle, you can determine functionality without any testers. The brakes should hum when they have power.
