Snow Tire Chains For 2015 Mazda 3

Question:

I want to boost the height of my 2015 Mazda 3 about 1” for improved snow clearance in winter. -would coil spring helpers on front and back accomplish that? -do you have a size that would fit my car springs? -will installation require a wheel alignment? Thanks

Expert Reply:

Coil spring helpers don't add to the height of your vehicle, because they just go inside the spring, supporting it when you have a load in the vehicle. So springs won't raise your 2015 Mazda 3, nor are they any that fit your vehicle. The best I can offer for better ride in snow are snow tire chains:

- pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # PWRS74

I checked the owner's manual for a 2015 Mazda 3 and it said snow tire chains are permissible, on the front tires only. The pewag # PWRS74 are Class S compatible so they are low-profile with just a 3.2mm thickness. They also have square links that provide the best overall grip in both snow and ice, and their diagonal pattern offers the most complete tire coverage.
