When Is Weight Distribution Recommended
Question:
Hi, I will be towing a boat trailer surge brakes, 2 axles with my AUDI Q5 Diesel with the max allowable weight of 4400 lbs for this car. Do I need a stabilizer or not? Your opinion would be appreciated. Thank you.

If the trailer you plan on towing weighs more than half of the weight of the tow vehicle we recommend the use of weight distribution.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup. You should note that the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your vehicle should be considered tongue weight as well. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out.
Once you determine you tongue weight you can check out the link I attached where you will want to select your tongue weight from the left hand facet and you will see all of the available systems that are compatible with surge brakes.
You can also email me back if you need help picking out a system.
