Recommended Parts to Tow a 2015 Jayco Jay Flight 24FBS with a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
My name's Eric. Me and my wife have two kids, and my wife grew up camping over the summer and on the weekends. She really loved it, and she made a lot of great memories during that time with her family. I know there are a lot of great campgrounds in this part of the state, and I think camping with our kids is something we could figure out and carry on that tradition with our family. I got a pretty nice bonus at the end of the year, and I'd really like to surprise my wife and the kids with a camper. The thing is, I don't know much about pulling a camper myself. I found this one that I thought could work for us, and it's in my price range: 2015 Jayco Jay Flight 24FBS. And I talked with my neighbor who has a boat and a camper, and he told me that I could pull the Jayco with my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee as long as I had a hitch and wiring. And he said I probably need a weigh distribution hitch. I'm really hoping to surprise her once the weather gets nice. I just need to make sure I can pull the camper and I have everything I need to pull it before then.

I'd be more than happy to help you get your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee setup for towing and making memories with your family! Since the 2015 Jayco Jay Flight 24FBS you're looking at is a heavier trailer we'll need to get your Jeep outfitted with a trailer hitch, wiring, a brake controller, and a weight distribution system. Here is what I recommend for your setup:
Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - # DT38MR
T-One Wiring Harness - # 118727
Universal Wiring Kit - # ETBC7
Mounting Bracket - # C57202
Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - # RED24FR
Brake Controller Wiring Harness - # RED69FR
Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - # BLU67FR
I like the Draw-Tite trailer hitch because it installs behind your bumper which means you have increased ground clearance and a clean-looking setup after the installation. The 2 wiring harnesses give you all the wiring you need to safely tow and the mounting bracket allows you to locate the 7-Way next to your hitch receiver.
The Tow-Pro Liberty is a simple-yet effective proportional brake controller that can be mounted virtually anywhere in your cabin, giving you the absolute most control over your trailer braking.
The Blue Ox TrackPro is a versatile weight distribution system that I really like because it uses friction for sway control and comes with everything you need to get towing! Just make sure the loaded tongue weight of your trailer is 10-15% of the weight when fully loaded and that you're within the 600 lbs - 800 lbs tongue weight range for this system to work properly.
