How to Choose Correct Replacement Axles for 1992 12K Equipment Trailer with 7 Frame

Question:

I have a 1992 cross country 12k equipment trailer that is about due for new axles. My frame width is 7 feet overall. Any idea where I can find these. All the websites Ive seen list the widest axles for a 6 foot 10 inch frame width. Any help appreciated.

The best way to find exact replacement axles is to have the hub-face and spring-center measurements (see attached) along with the axle weight capacity. These can normally be found on a tag in the middle of the axle. For your application I would guess that the spring center is around 84" (for a 7' trailer frame) and the axles are rated for at least 5,200 lbs.

While we don't have any standard axle replacements that match these specs, we do have the Timbren Axle-Less kits that install directly to the frame so the distance between the frame of the trailer becomes irrelevant. So for your application I recommend picking up one of the following depending on the weight capacity of your current axles:

5,200 lbs - # ASR5200S01
7,000 lbs - # TASR7KS01

One of the other great things about this system is that it uses individual rubber springs using the same technology that Timbren uses for their towing suspension enhancement kits. This means you'll have a smoother, more consistent towing experience for your trailer.

If you want to stick with the standard axle type then you'll need to take the measurements and weight rating found on your tag to a local shop or RV dealer to custom order your axle as we won't have something that matches that size.

Attached are some videos for you to check out.
