Depth of Receiver Needed For Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE HLY84FR
Question:
I plan to use an 8 inch hi/lo receiver adapter. Bike rack will use upper receiver, tow bar in the lower receiver. Upper receiver is 6 inch deep with 1-1/2 inch clear space before the bumper will stop the rack going in further. How much space is needed for the rack to slide into receiver and line up pin holes?

The overall depth needed is just 4-3/4 inches to use the Hollywood Racks bike rack you asked about:

The # HLY84FR has a shank with a bump stop, and to install the rack you'll simply slide it into your receiver until it contacts the bump stop. And the measurement from the bump stop to the end of the shank is 4-3/4 inches, so that's the amount of depth that is required. Since you have a total of 7-1/2 inches, there is more than enough space for you to use the Sport Rider SE.
