Can I Use 2K Axle with Larger Hub-Face Dimensions if Spring-Center Matches Current Axle
Question:
I have a 5x8 utility trailer and need to replace the axle bad hub and spindle. Mine measures 58 between spring seats, but only 70 hub face to hub face. I expect that I just need to go with a 72 and my wheels will stick out a little more? No markings and I got it used, but I expect its 2k rating. Old hubs are Dexter and axle diameter is 2.5 and it has 3 leaf springs and 15 wheels. Is the Item # 20545I-EZ-72-15 likely the best choice? If so, do you sell u-bolts that go with it? Thanks much

Expert Reply:
Using an axle with a slightly larger hub-face dimension will still work great for your application as the tires will only be sticking out 1" further on either side - so the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Idler Hubs # 20545I-EZ-72-15 is what you're needing provided your bolt pattern is 5on 4-1/2" for your wheels.
The U-Bolt kit you need to mount this to your leaf spring can be found as part # APUBR-10 on our site.
