Trailer Axle Compatible with 5x8 Open Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a 5x8 open trailer with a wooden floor. Axle nut stripped the end out. Whats the recommended axle length to fit it?

Expert Reply:

The 60 inch width of the trailer doesn't designate the frame/leaf spring width center on center.

If the frame is 58 inches on center then you can use the Dexter Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs - 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern - 72" Long - 2,000 lbs # 20440I-EZ-72 or the Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 72" Long - 2,200 lbs # 20545I-EZ-72-10.

If you have different leaf spring measurement you can check the fit guide on the attached page or you can use an axle-less system on that page for a custom fit.
