How to Test for Best Tension When Installing the Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist

Question:

I have a folding ramp all alum and wondering if the GL-1 would work? How do I determine the correct height to attach the cable to the ramp? Sending pic of trailer/ramp. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out!

When you install the Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist w/ Cable # GL1 there is a trial and error type of section where you use S hooks to hook onto different points of your trailer ramp so you can test out the tension and get it right. Since each ramp is a different size and weight the trial and error method is really the only option.

It looks like your ramp has a double fold in it so you'll want to make sure you connect the S hooks and ultimately the bolts to the part of the ramp that's connected directly to the trailer.

Also be sure to use some kind of spray or other material as a buffer between the mounting hardware and your aluminum trailer to help prevent the metals interacting with each other.

Attached is a review video for you to check out.
